What is Parkinson’s disease?
It is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. Symptoms start gradually, sometimes starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. In the early stages, your face may show little or no expression. Your arms may not swing when you walk. Your speech may become slurred. Parkinson’s disease symptoms worsen over time.
Parkinson’s disease cannot be cured. Medication might improve your condition. Some research has shown that regular aerobic exercise might reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease. Green tea is also found to reduce risk of this disease.
Parkinson’s disease is found to affect people around 60 or older. Men are more likely to develop this disease than women. Ongoing exposure to pesticides and herbicides may increase risk of Parkinson’s disease.
