You should always take an appointment before you see your neurologist.
Usually first consultation is most important and time consuming. you
must give maximum information about your symptoms to your neurologist.
You should always carry all reports including Blood reports, CT Scan or
MRI film with reports, X_rays or Sonograghy or any other reports, even
though you feel it may not be of any help. Always see neurologist with
one or more relatives, who knows about your disease. Time for 1st
consultation may vary from patient to patient and you may require
to undergo investigations. Hence spare sufficient time for this
consultation.
It depends on the nature of your disease. Make sure that when you leave
doctors chamber that you have understood when to visit again. Make sure
that you continue to take medicines till you see your doctor, in case
you are late by few days.
You can always take additional medicines, in case you have fever, common
cold or diarrhoea & vomiting along with the prescription of
neurologist. But, you should inform your treating doctor that you are already on
treatment by neurologist.
Most of the neurological disorders require treatment for long period and
it may sometimes continue life long. You can discuss this matter with your
neurologist. However some patients take medicines unsupervised when they
know life long treatment. This is not correct. You must see your
neurologist periodically to adjust doses of medicines, to monitor for long term
adverse effect and for additional issues. Also, it is not right to do self
reduction of medicine, which can be really a source of trouble.
You can ask your neurologist about your disease. You can visit our
